To date, there is a significant decrease in supply of foods such as milk and buckwheat cereals. Representatives of Russian large retail chains recognize that such a tendency exists, but assure that this concerns exclusively indicated goods.
The situation with a shortage of buckwheat is explained by its small crop last year. The forecasts of experts for the 2010 crop are also not comfortable, it is unlikely to reach the level of last year, which, in turn, can lead to an increase in the price in the procurement to 60%.In addition, representatives of large food networks in Russia confirmed that since the beginning of 2010, prices for foods such as sugar, buckwheat and cheese have already increased several times, but not more than 10%.
As for raw materials for the production of dairy products, now suppliers indicate a 30% deficit of milk. According to them, such a situation may take place before next year.
Ilya Belonovsky, head of the Association of Grocery Trading Networks, reports that suppliers of various food products, even those who could not have a drought or heat, intend to increase prices. The Acort Association actively restrains the exorbitant appetites of suppliers using legal methods.
