A section of the brain responsible for appetite control has smaller sizes in elderly people who suffer from extra pounds.
A person who always indulges in the desires of his own organism in a matter of food not only gains excess weight, but he also has functional changes in the brain, a diet on celery will not allow you to prevent this, with the help of which you can keep your weight at the level you need.
Specialists of the University of Uppsala, under the leadership of Samantha Brooks, using magnetic resonance imaging studied the brain in 292 elderly patients, while some subjects suffered from excessive weight.
Five years later, the same people were examined again and they checked the brain functions responsible for controlling the consumption of food.
It turned out that participants with excess weight had reduced brain functions, the area of the brain that is responsible for appetite control and completely decreased in the amount. Nevertheless, experts still cannot say with confidence that the human brain is changing thanks to the lifestyle, and not vice versa.
The previously conducted studies suggest that in people suffering from anorexia, increase in brain areas responsible for controlling appetite.
