History of the appearance and rules of the game of darts

The target is attached to a flat vertical surface (for example, a wall). The distance from the floor to the center of the target is exactly 173 centimeters.

Sector 20 on the board (red and black) must be on top. Usually, the numbers indicating the value of the sector are placed on a separate wire – this way, the target can be rotated so that it lasts longer, and at the same time, the twenty always remains in one place.

The distance from the target to the line from which the throw follows is exactly 237 centimeters. You can check the correctness of the calculations using geometry. If you imagine a right triangle in which the legs are the distances from the floor to the target and from the target to the line, then the hypotenuse (the distance from the center of the target to the line in a straight line) should be 293 centimeters. Check – if you got this figure, then you hung the target correctly.

Hitting the outer ring doubles the points (conditionally, 2×20 or 2×9). Hitting the inner ring triples the points (3×20, 3×9). The green circle near the center is worth 25 points, the very center (red) is worth 50. This point is also called the “bull’s eye” (or simply “bull”) by analogy with the red bull’s eye. The bull also plays the role of doubling (2×25), since in some versions of the games, which we will discuss below, it is important to hit the doubling at the right moment.
